Last days of August DanceFestival
[26.08.14]

The 15th international festival that began on the 21th of August has really get going and is continuing in an uprising tempo during last week.

On Tuesday, 26th, Alessandro Sciarroni's physical and astonishing spectacle that touches the boarders of theatre and circus can be seen in Kanuti Gildi SAAL.

Since Sunday, several Tallinn offices and institutions have been visited by Sarah Vanhee and her short lecture „Lecture for Every One"  in both English and Estonian languages. Finishing the series of unannounced lectures, Sarah and her Estonian partner  make an overview of this project and give their resume in a public discussion at Kanuti Gildi SAAL. Sarah tries to answer the following questions: has the artist succeeded in collectively addressing the citizens inside this fragmented society? Has she discovered something like a common frame of reference?

On Thursday and Friday, for the joy of contemporary theatre friends a performance by Philippe Quesne, one of the brightest stars in today's France and perhaps whole Europe, is shown. In „L'Effet de Serge" which has refined humour and almost no words in it, a character named Serge presents every Sunday to his friends one to three minutes performances with minimal special effects.

A fresh dance film connecting choreography, architecture and citizens' iniative by Madis Ligema will be premiered on Friday.

During the last weekend, Tallinn will be visited by  one of he most well-known living choreograper Anne Deresa de Keersmaekerit. It will be possible to see a piece from year 1982 "Fase, Four Movements to the Music of Steve Reich" , created on Steve Reich's music. Contemporary dance theatre classic will be performed in NO99 theatre.

Festival ends with a remarkable performance from Belgian choreographer Lishbet Gruwez. "It's going to get worse and worse and worse, my friend" is spot-on, cold and crazing.
The 15th in a row August DanceFestival is Tallinn's oldest international performing arts festival that has developed through time and blurred by fields following the tendance of blending borders in overall arts. Foremost, it is a festival about artists, their thoughts and actions.
