August DanceFestival 2009:

ANTONIJA LIVINGSTONE /CANADA-ESTONIA/ "The Part"

In her productions the Canadian choreographer of Estonian descent Antonija Livingstone investigates social and performative roles and fixed ideas we tend to have about them. And the theory that in order to get somewhere one must always audition. There is something fierce about her being on stage and her body is well alert. To make references and perform roles she makes use of found objects but it is not as if she would desist magnificent set made especially for productions - it is just that there is something utalitarian about the way she uses props. Santa's beard can turn into a white wig in a second. Postmodernism is not dead and feminism is in fairly good shape in Livingstone's production.

Choreography, performance, sound, light, costumes: Antonija Livingstone
Production: Marie-Andrée Gougeon
Tallinn performance supporter by Canadian Embassy
NB! Same ticket with Teodora Castellucci performance "à elle vide" on 24.08 at 20:00 in Von Krahl Theatre!
