ARTISTS IN RESIDENCY at Püha Vaimu SAAL in JANUARY 2015: HENRI HÜTT & TAAVET JANSEN
SHOWING: MAARJA TÕNISSON
For January, the position of artist in residency in Püha Vaimu SAAL will be hijacked by Henri Hütt and Taavet Jansen with the aim to forward it to other artists. The month is divided into four weekly sessions that are filled by specialized dance artists, experimenting with the pre-production stadium. The purpose of these residencies is to develop ideas into the level from which one can start dealing with actual production. Four weeks equals four artists/pairs/groups. All sessions come down to public showings.
Hütt and Jansen are freelance artists who have been coworking within MIMproject format. It is an interdisciplinary event series that connects different artists creating performances and audiovisual installations. Previously they have co-created the performance „BABES” performed in Kanuti Gildi SAAL. In the context of this residency they are interested in encouraging the choreographers who have enquired their degree to create their own independent work. How do recent graduates of choreography studies, make their way into the world of practicing artists and what can be done by the currently active artists for the next generation? January’s residency offers young artists a chance to work with their ideas, offers the space and works on finding a better contact.
