CHRISTIAN M. FISCHER "Sketchbook" for harpsichord and live electronic music
For a couple of years, German composer Christian M. Fischer works with motion graphics for music notation. Especially within electro acoustic and live electronic music context. Thereby he tries to explore new ways of communicating musical ideas. The presented work "Sketchbook" is a result of Christian's first year of PhD research at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. In seven acoustic sketches played in random order, the piece explores the possibilities of communicating musical structure, events and ideas using different approaches and forms of graphics. Thereby the harpsichord as an Early Music instrument (played by Saale Fischer) is the object of study. The Motion Graphic Notation used by the performers will be also visible for the audience, so they can experience how this form of notation works.
