Festival NYYD and Kanuti Gildi SAAL present:
Ensemble U: & MART KANGRO "Harmony"
Mart Kangro and Taavi Kerikmäe try in their new production "Harmony" together with Ensemble U: to delve on the paradoxes of professional music interprets. What are musicians actually doing while performing music? What do they do and think while waiting for their five bars of solo during a long suite? Is this inescapable silence comic or even tragic in nature? Quite a bundle of paradoxes and it takes Kerikmäe, Ensemble U: and Kangro to sort it out, together with a tad of tongue-in-cheek.
Possibly one of the most internationally acclaimed Estonian contemporary choreographers Mart Kangro has created 8 full-length dance pieces that have been presented in more than 20 countries all over Europe and North America.
Taavi Kerikmäe is a composer and a musician. Together with Mart Soo he curates a series of concerts of contemporary improvisational music Improtest at Kanuti Gildi SAAL. He has studied music in Tallinn and Lyon. He gives lectures at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
