Temps D'Images and Von Krahl Theatre present: 10+ / ÖVUÜL AVKIRAN - MUSTAFA AVKIRAN /TUR/ ´Reporter´ a documentary piece
Mehmet Ali Alabora was famous already at 18. Although he was related to theatre through his family he chose to lead the career of a journalist. He was a war reporter in conflict zones for a private TV-station. He was handsome, charismatic young hero reporting on the Intifada, being an idol for many, when he at some point realized that he is no longer able to cope with what he has seen and experienced. So he became an actor like his parents and an activist for anti-militaristism. Alabora quickly gained a reknown and often appeared in tv-series, films and on stage. When Övül ja Mustafa Avkiran in 2005 founded the Istanbul multidisciplinary center garajistanbul, Alabora was a founding member. Beside his many other talents, Alabora has a gift for story-telling being good in smartly, argumentedly, clearly and comprehensively telling the story of his country.
“Reporter” reflects on the various identities of Mehmet Ali Alabora, his life and experiences and how his personal experience influences him as an artist. Telling his life story that is simultaneously the story of modern Turkey, Mehmet Ali Alabora is performing himself.
