Progress, achievement, and the pursuit of a pleasurable life. Such aspirations of mankind leave various trails inside of humans and around them. Some of these traces lead to a highway that brings the world towards its end. True. But surely the journey also entails occasional playfulness and joy. ’Phases’ includes togetherness, acts of drifting apart, and enjoyment of collective loneliness. The audience is served a real feast of sensations. In addition to vibrant Fine 5 choreography, the production incorporates light installations by Tiina Sarapu and Steve Reich’s music.
Fine 5 Dance Theatre is one of the best-known and the most influential contemporary dance companies in Estonia. It was founded in 1992 when five dancers formed their own troupe. In early 90-ies their work was influenced by traditional modern dance techniques, since the end of 90-ies the working methods have changed, combining various approaches to human movement and dance as an art. In 1994 Fine 5 opened the first contemporary dance school in Estonia. Since 2005 company has successfully performed their productions ’Carmina Burana’ and ’Requiem’ at well-known ’Birgitta Festival’ in Tallinn.
