August DanceFestival 2007: JONATHAN BURROWS & MATTEO FARGION /UK-ITA/ ‘Speaking Dance’ Choreographer Jonathan Burrows and composer Matteo Fargion present the final part of a trilogy of performances, which began in 2002 with ‘Both Sitting Duet’ and continued in 2005 with ‘The Quiet Dance’. This new piece continues their gentle exploration into how the relationship between music and dance is perceived, and the fragile but permeable boundaries between the two worlds. Their performances are a formal but humorous meditation on the nature of communication, and the relationship between each other and with the audience. Jonathan Burrows started his career as a soloist with the Royal Ballet in London, but formed the Jonathan Burrows Group in 1988 to present his own work. Since 2002 he has worked with Matteo Fargion. He has also worked with Sylvie Guillem and choreographed for William Forsythe’s Ballet Frankfurt. Matteo Fargion studied composition with Kevin Volans at the University of Natal, South Africa, and later with Howard Skempton in London.
