Club guy & roni /HOL/ & NYYD Ensemble
‘Myrrh and Cinnamon’

'Myrrh and Cinnamon' is a dance concert based on the Song of Songs by Salomon, one of the most poetic and intriguing chapters of the bible which supplies an almost limitless ground for interpretation. The music will be performed live by the prestigious Estonian NYYD Ensemble.

Press quotes
(premiere 30 oktober CaDance Festival, Den Haag)

NRC Handelsblad / 1–11-2004
‘More hip was Club guy & roni; Roni van Roni Haver and Guy Weizman, ex-dancers from Galili Dance. Their new piece Myrrh and Cinnamon is inspired by the mystical love of the Song of Songs. The work of four composers from Estland, including Arvo Pärt, are being played live on stage. With humour, aggression, lesbian kissing, dance of exhaustion, pretentious swarming and mystical slogans, the duo creates a world which touches many, but also left others indifferent. On its self, this dividing of mind, is an achievement, so Club guy & roni is a duo to keep in mind.

Volkskrant / 2-11-2004
‘Also inspired by love between two passionate but incompatible souls is Myrrh and cinnamon of Club guy & roni; Guy Weizman and Roni Haver (ex-dancers of Itzik Galili). Their device comes from the eroticism of the Biblical Song of Songs. This translates too many cross-cross-contacts. Six strong dancers, with eye catchers Jens van Daele and Roni Haver, turn, jump, tumble and glide with a magnetic field between the erogenous zones as the central element. The language of Weizman and Haver is known; a constantly hot, explosive and acrobatic tumbling.‘
