XAVIER CHARLES & JEAN-PHILIPPE GROSS /FRA/ Duo Xavier Charles – Jean-Philippe Gross ties electronics with acoustic clarinet into an unbelievable sound field filled with colours and patterns. Their first concert in Tallinn will bring messages from Europe progressive free improvisation frontline to our audience. The work of clarinettist Xavier Charles ranges from noise to electro-acoustic via sound poetry. He has played in numerous new music festivals in France and abroad. Currently his musical research ranges from performance on the clarinet to the installation of vibrating speakers, at the edge of improvised music, noisy rock and electro-acoustic sound. He's deeply involved in the music world as an organizer of the festival ´Densités´.
Jean-Philippe Gross lives and works in Metz. Before turning to electronic he was playing drum in different rock bands. Since 1998 he plays improvised electronic with a mixing board, cheap microphones, small speakers and analog synth. He is a member of power free noise band Maelstrom with Arnaud Paquotte and Michel Oury. He creates sound/music for dance and theatre.
